After a couple years with Team Arkansas Elite, Doug Williams will be working the sidelines in the Premier Basketball League Series back under the name of Arkansas ICE. Arkansas ICE is dedicated to developing young men and young women 11U-17U to become successful adults through the game of basketball, and also providing them with the tools to earn a scholarship. Coach Williams added, “through the game of basketball our young men and young women will learn discipline, structure, accountability, morals and life lessons, as well as the correct way to win and lose. All players will be motivated to perform at their upmost and pushed to the limit. Players in our program will be taught the game the correct way and build character along the way.”
In the 2015 class, Coach Williams and his coaching staff had the following signings: Rakia Lane with Central Arkansas, Kye Richardson with Arkansas Pine Bluff, Jaida Harden with Southern Arkansas, Terralynn Dominick with Philander Smith, Antrice McCoy and Jada Taylor with Southern Shreveport, and Leondra Hawkins with Garden City. In the upcoming club season, Arkansas ICE will be showcasing two teams. Coach Williams provides notes on some of his top players:
Jekalen Jones (2017): “Jones is a 5’11” forward who is a good defender and a knock down shooter.”
Madison Hopkins-Jones (2017): “Hopkins-Jones is a 6’4” post that has a smooth stroke out to 15 feet, plus operates well out of the high post and really takes up space on defense.”
Adrianne Chambers (2018): “Chambers is a 5’11” match up nightmare with her ability to shoot the three well beyond the three-point line, post smaller defenders, and take bigger defenders off the bounce.”
Jasmine Ellison (2019): “Ellison is a solid defender and rebounder.”
Kaylan Larry (2019): “Larry is an excellent shooter, three-point specialist, with good handles.”
Dynasty McGraw (2020): “McGraw is an excellent ball handler with a good midrange jumper.”
Kariesha Lowry (2021): “Lowry is a big time scoring point guard.”
When asked why Coach Williams decided to play in the Premier Basketball League Series, he answered, “PBLS will give Arkansas ICE a chance to get our girls recruited by a greater amount of universities throughout the country, as well as show everyone that there is more talent in Arkansas than people think.” Arkansas ICE will be attending the Hall of Fame National Showcase on April 16-17 in Wichita, KS, the Heart of Texas Showcase on April 22-24 in Frisco, Texas, and the PBLS Finale National Championship on July 23-25 in Wichita, Kansas.
