Many current high school and future collegiate basketball players gathered at the Next Level Hoops Academy in Bel Aire, KS on Sunday March 13, 2016 for the second in the series of Dan Olson ESPNW Exposure Showcases. The showcase was split into two sessions featuring skills training by Michael Aduddell of Oklahoma Basketball Academy and open run style games.
Session One Session One featured 2019 6’5”
Kennedy Brown. Brown is an elite post prospect with a solid all-around fundamental game. Brown does a great job of running rim-to-rim and getting deep post position for easy looks. She has terrific hands and caught several passes in traffic. Brown finished with both hands and featured a variety of moves with both her back to the basket and facing up. She also did a great job of using anticipation and lateral foot movement defensively to help teammates. Brown used her length to contest and block shots without fouling, and was very good on the boards on both ends of the floor. As she continues to improve her range offensively and overall explosion, she will be a top prospect in the 2019 class.
2017 6’0”
Lauryn Snipes showed a terrific blend of size, athleticism, and skill. Snipes can finish in traffic and shoot from both the mid range and the three. Her ability to guard multiple positions will serve her well at the next level. 2017 6’1”
Haley Albers did a nice job of working in the post area. Albers is a hard worker, who makes plays on both ends of the floors. With continued work in expanding her offensive game, she will be an ascending player in the class. 2017 5’8”
Jaden Damon showed very good speed with the ball and the ability to finish in traffic and through contact. Damon is a physically strong player and very good on ball defender. 2017 6’0”
Jenna Peckham is a very good athlete with a fluid release on her shot. She has excellent vision and passing ability with the ball. Peckham can finish with either hand and her ability to guard multiple positions attributes to her success in the lane. 2017 5’9”
Kyla Callins is a natural basketball player with natural instincts on the floor. Callins played the passing lanes well, finished through contact, and has terrific vision and passing ability off the bounce. 2017 5’11”
Regan Tibbits showed explosion athletically; she has a smooth stroke and finished with both hands in traffic.
Numerous players stood out in the younger portion of the first session. 2019 5’8”
Tore Alford was notable in playing the passing lanes defensively. Alford made terrific decisions with the ball in the open court and finished both in transition and at the rim. 2020 5’7”
Sydney Nilles is a very good athlete that showed acceleration with the ball. She finished with both hands in traffic and made a lot of plays on the defensive end. 2019 5’11”
DesiRay Kernal is a versatile player, who flourished in transition and finished in the lane. Kernal is a very good passer with vision and a talented defender. 2019 5’10”
Lauren West mixed an all-out attacking of the rim with long range on her shot out to the three-point line. West has very good vision and passing ability in transition. 2020 5’4”
Taylor Jameson is a very good athlete with an explosive first step and a high basketball IQ. She is very aggressive on both ends of the floor and extremely quick. 2020 5’3”
Tomia Johnson showed elite quickness and ball handling. Johnson continually got into the lane and stood out as a pressure on-ball defender.
Session Two Session Two was led by 2018 5’4”
Jamee Asberry, a lead guard who can do it all. She is a dynamic ball handler that showed good vision and passing off the dribble. Asberry does a terrific job of finishing through and over contact in the paint. Asberry has an explosive first step and multiple defenders had issues keeping her from penetrating the defense. She hit multiple threes when left open and had numerous steals and run from behind blocks in defensive transition. Asberry will be a highly sought after recruit in her class. 2018 5’11”
Mariah Noodel-Haywood is a skillful athlete with an explosive vertical leaper. A lefty, Noodel-Haywood did a good job of getting to the midrange for a jumper and finishing over contact. Her athleticism will aid her in being an excellent defender at the next level.
2019 5’7"
Aija Blackwell is a natural basketball player with a complete game. She has easy range from the three and a very good midrange pull-up jumper off the dribble. Blackwell finished well in traffic and was tremendous in filling the lane in the open court. She is a gritty defender who did an excellent job of rebounding and pushing the ball into transition. 2017 5’9”
BraxtonStewart has easy range out to the three-point line. Stewart did a nice job attacking the lane off of her shot. She was successful in flashing to the elbows and getting open looks for teammates with her vision and passing. 2018 5’5”
Lauryn Cross is a lefty who goes to the basket strong. She can handle the ball going right or left and is a strong on-ball defender. Cross has a quick release on her shot and with improved arc will become a very good shooter. 2018 6’0”
Mandi Cooks is an athlete who plays with toughness. She was very good on the boards and finished well in transition. Cooks is a gritty, hard-nosed defender who plays hard. 2021 6’1”
Chantea Embry is an ultra-talented youngster. With a smooth stroke from the three, she can finish and pass with either hand and is developing a nice midrange game. As she develops a killer mentality, she will be a top prospect in her class. 2021 5’10”
Aaliyah Moore is a long, lean athlete. She is an excellent leaper and attacked the boards well. Moore is a gritty, high-motor worker who will be highly sought after as she continues to develop skill. 2021 5’3”
Jamya Powell is a lead guard with a very high basketball IQ at a young age. Powell has a nice, easy stroke from three and is already developing a nice midrange game, something you do not see very often from such a young player. She is a very good ball handler who can go right or left. Powell did an excellent job of passing the ball in transition for easy looks to teammates.
