After winning the 2018 Big Ten Conference Tournament, Ohio State’s Head Coach Kevin McGuff and his staff got great news when Hungarian Dorka Juhsaz informed them of her verbal commitment. In January, the 2018 PBR All-Global first teamer visited Ohio State University, University of Missouri, and University of Louisville.
For those who have followed international youth basketball the last couple of years, Juhsaz is household name. She is a skilled forward who scores in the paint or from the perimeter. Over the last year, she has developed a quality stroke from beyond the three-point line which will allow Coach McGuff to pick and pop with her and spread the floor in their high paced offense.
When asked why she picked Ohio State, Juhsaz stated, “I chose Ohio State because it has a really good basketball program and also it is a very good university too. The girls and the coaches are great people, and I really like them all. I am excited to be a Buckeye, and I am looking forward to what the future holds.”
Many believed that Juhsaz would stay in Europe to sign pro. When asked about coming to USA, she added, “For international players it is a really big decision to leave their country and their family. The reason why I have decided to come to the United States is that I would like to continue my studies at a high level plus develop as a player. Ohio State stands out in both. Studying is very important for me because my basketball career won’t last forever.”
We look for Dorka Juhsaz to become a nationally known name during her time at Ohio State University.
