Rockwall High School: The Lady Jackets’ current season record is 19-5 and 6-1 in district competition. One of their most powerful performances this season was against Garland High School, resulting in a 61-25 win. The team was lead by senior guard Sara Williamson—Abilene Christian commit—who had 22 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals. Sara is a very unselfish player, while still able to step up and control the game when necessary. Sara will do well at the collegiate level, as she is a good team player and a huge threat on defense. Senior post Mandi McMillan also had a strong game against Garland, with 8 points and 8 rebounds. Mandi shows a tremendous amount of work ethic, and knows how to read her defender to make moves in the paint. Star of the future, sophomore post Madison Wheeler, had 8 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists for the night. She has a strong inside presence and does a great job making the defense shift in the lane. Sophomore guard Hailey Hicks also helped the team’s total with her 11 points, including three big outside shots. Head coach Kasie Brewer utilizes her deep bench well, and has the team consistently playing at a high level. The Lady Jackets are well equipped to make a deep playoff run.
Prestonwood Christian Academy: The Lady Lions’, under the direction of Coach Sherry Ollison, have a loaded team this year. At this stage, they are 20-4 for the year and 5-1 in district. In their game against Bishop Lynch High School, PCA claimed a hard fought 46-35 win. They were led by 6’3” sophomore Jade Williams, who recorded 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. She is widely considered one of the top 2017 players in the country. A long and athletic player, Jade has great hands a makes her presence known in the paint. Brooke Alexander, a 6’0” senior guard who has committed to Liberty University, has a comprehensive skill package: extremely tough, great handles, scores in a variety of ways, rebounds powerfully, and overpowers opponents defensively. In her game against Bishop Lynch, she put up 10 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks, clearly indicative of an all-around player. Junior guard, 5’7” Alicia Blackwell is also a powerful, aggressive asset on this team. She relies on the fundamentals of the game; attention to detail, work ethic, and leadership are her strong suits.
