“The Premier Basketball League Series is a great opportunity for our up-and-coming organization to showcase its talents against other top programs,” states Todd Cossman, Director of Western Kansas Elite. Western Kansas Elite was formed in the summer of 2014 to provide players in western Kansas the opportunity to play in front of college coaches. WKE Director Todd Cossman and his staff have quickly grown in the past two years by focusing on their twofold mission: “first, we want to put our players in the best position to earn a college scholarship. Second, we want to work to improve our players as individuals. We work not only on athletic training, but we also focus on character building, ACT/SAT prep, and citizenship,” added Cossman.
Western Kansas Elite has helped players such as 2015 Kari Blattner (Southwestern College), 2015 Miranda White (Tabor College), and 2016 Lexie McDowell (Washburn University) fulfill their dreams of playing college basketball, with numerous current players still deciding on offers. Western Kansas Elite will have four teams in the 2016 Premier Basketball League Series. Below are some key players from each team to watch out for, with notes from WKE director Todd Cossman:
2017 Tatum Bartels (Phillipsburg High School): “Bartels is a forward with three point range who shows the ability to get to the basket off the dribble. She is a strong defender who rebounds well.”
2017 Taylor Regan (Otis-Bison High School): “Regan is a natural small forward with good handles. She is a long, athletic defender who can step out and knock down the three.”
2017 Brianna Johnson (Maize High School): “Johnson is an athletic point guard who shots the three very well. She can break down her defender to finish with either hand or hit the midrange jumper.”
2018 Dymond McElrath (Wichita Heights High School): “McElrath is a point guard with great handles who knows how to run a team. She is good in ball screen action and knows how to get her teammates involved.
