Yellow Rose of Texas

Club Basketball season has tipped off once again in the state of Texas and we hosted our first event of the spring this past weekend in Mansfield at the Fieldhouse USA.

We saw a multitude of talent from all age groups at our event. Some of the club scene veterans that play for the likes of Texas Elite Prime, Lady Drive Nation, and Team Lex were complimented by a reloaded Houston Skyrise and Skyrise 2023, Texas Lone Star Red and Black, OK PWP 2023, Team Lex Nation, Texas Elite Lady Terps, and LDN 15U Stephens among others.

 
With each team getting four games, we were able to get a good early look at teams in their first real action of the spring part of the club season. 63 teams participated this weekend. We had some really nice crowds! 


 
Particularly impressive were the young teams (Team Lex Nation and OK PWP in particular – mostly made up of 2023’s). They played TEAM basketball and have multiple talented players on both rosters. LDN 15U Stephens is another group that is well coached and will look for a solid club season. And never sleep on Nolan Capra and his young groups, this time it’s Houston Skyrise 2023. Texas Lonestar Black is a cohesive young group as well. 
 
Every year, the major teams have adjusted and new rosters are formed due to graduation and changes. We saw exciting new possibilities with the revamped Team Lex Gold, the formation of Team Lex Platinum, Lady Drive Nation 17U & 16U, and Texas Elite Prime in particular. Houston Skyrise is an athletic and scrappy group. Watch for them to gel as we progress into more events. Texas Lone Star is new to the adidas Gauntlet circuit this year and club director Jimmy Stellato always has them playing good ball. North Texas Shockers has been on the scene for years as well.
