Consultant TEAM
STEVE HARRIS
Director - Premier Basketball Player Services
A class of 1980 Texas A&M University graduate, Steve has spent his entire life working in youth sports in some capacity or other. Officiating football, basketball, baseball, track and field; as well as coaching recreational and advanced club programs. His first meeting with Joey Simmons was in 1997 when two of his daughters were trying out for teams in the Texas Shooting Stars Basketball organization. At the same time Steve was founding Wolverine Basketball, a club program for his son’s High School team.
In 2002 Steve would once again cross paths with Joey when his three youngest daughters joined Team Texas Express. He became an assistant coach and head coach with Team Texas Express and then Texas Express. In 2008 Steve founded NCT Elite, a club basketball program for girls, and continued to work with Joey in tournament management and support. During his years as a coach for both boys and girls, he has coached numerous players who have gone on to play at every level, from Junior College to power 5 Division I programs. A couple of his players have won Division I and Division II National Championships.
Upon its launch Steve will be the Director of Premier Basketball Player Services. He has also taken on the task of establishing the new Boys’ Premier Basketball Report, an NCAA Certified Scouting Service.
Steve brings strong experience, not only from the coaching and evaluation process, but also a parent’s perspective into recruiting and college selection process. Steve and his wife Debi are the proud parents of 7 daughters and 1 son; all of which were athletes throughout high school and college. Junior College through Power 5 conference recruitment decisions provide valuable insight from a parent’s view on assisting their high school athletes in making these important decisions.
A strong commitment to hard work drives everything Steve does. He long ago adopted a personal philosophy he now shares with sales teams who work for him and in all the athletes he coaches, trains and evaluates…. ”Don’t Get Outworked”….. DGOW….. you will most likely hear it from him as he closes each conversation he has with the athletes in this manner.
