On Wednesday, March 11th, Coach Jeff Walz and the University of Louisville coaching staff received a big 2016 commitment from 6'5” Kylee Shook of Media Ridge High School and New Mexico Heat Elite. Shook chose the Lady Cardinals over other top Division I schools, such as Oregon State University, Baylor University, South Carolina University, and Kentucky University; the final decision came down to Arizona State University, University of Washington, University of Colorado and Louisville.
After signing the number one recruiting class in the country with the 2015 class, the Cardinals got a great jumpstart on the 2016 class with Shook's commitment. She provides Coach Walz with extraordinary skill and length from either the power forward or center position. With her ability to step out and hit the three-point shot, she provides match-up difficulties night in and night out for opposing teams.
Shook had a great select basketball season this past summer, highlighted by achievements such as making it to the final cut for the USA U17 team that competed at the FIBA U17 World Championship and being invited to the 2014 Adidas 3 Stripe All-American Camp. With Shook in the nest, look for the Lady Cardinals to add a talented post player to their roster who can effectively shoot it from the long range.
