With things feeling not-so-normal in this tumultuous 2020, we had a brief glimpse into summer basketball over the days of July 5-8. With the help of multiple well-prepared facilities in the Fieldhouse USA – Mansfield, Fieldhouse USA – Frisco, and Drive Nation Premier, a detail-oriented event staff with years of experience, and the cooperation of players, coaches, and families,
Premier Basketball was able to host the annual
Heart of Texas July 5-6 and the
PBR Super 64 July 7-8.
We operated the facilities at half capacity, utilized contactless entry, required masks on non-game participants, removed bleachers and asked fans to bring single chairs, cleaned benches and basketballs in between games, and cleared the gym after each game amongst other precautions. We cannot thank the participants enough for their patience, understanding, and buy-in to these methods. We are here to serve you and provide this platform for sports, but you all helped immensely with this process over the event periods. Thank you!
We had 10 brackets in the Heart of Texas and 12 brackets in the PBR Super 64. With the shortened time period, we wanted to provide an environment of organization + exposure + competition and no one does that better than
Premier Basketball.

Before we get to the images that captured the quality, emotions, intensity, and moments of the events, we must mention the outstanding teams of the event:
Teams of the Week:
CyFair Nike 17U
This team won the top bracket in both the Heart of Texas and PBR Super 64 .. no easy task. This squad is led by 2021 Texas commit Aaliyah Moore and 2021 hotly recruited Kyndall Hunter. They have the Syracuse committed duo of Amani Bartlett and Nyah Wilson along with 2022 scorer extraordinaire Desiree Wooten (who went down with injury, unfortunately), and then five freshman who will no doubt leave their mark on events in the future (at times, these five freshman were on the floor together, gaining invaluable experience). This crew can score in bunches and really apply a lot of defensive pressure. They are in the conversation for one of the best teams in the country. All signs point to them making a solid summer run all the way through
The PRIME event in August .. Not easy, but certainly possible!
Team Lex Nation
This team won the top 16U bracket in both the Heart of Texas and PBR Super 64 .. again, no easy task. The unique thing about this team is they are all 2023 players, effectively playing a year up. Let’s just say.. they handled business. This squad is better every time they hit the floor which is an impressive thing for a young team that is so talented. We would be remiss not to mention that they are led by
Premier Basketball founder and CEO, Joey Simmons, along with longtime coaching colleague, Bill Franey. One thing you can count on, a Simmons/Franey squad will play defense, and they did just that. They stifled some really good teams by locking in defensively, especially with ball pressure. We have some emerging stars on this team, and they have made it known: They want to play
anyone. Challengers, we’ll see you at
The PRIME event in August, the stage of all stages.
Honorable Mention:
SA Finest – Made the Final of S64; Impressive list of talent as always – committed and uncommitted.
CyFair Nike Coop – Young 2024 squad playing in top 16U bracket; Never gives up, talented, plays HARD .. You will know them.
BTR 15U – Another young group competing a couple years up.. They never lack for energy and intensity. They will be around for years to come.
Pro Skills 16U – Complete group who are well coached; They play D and share the ball .. Their evolution has our attention as far as growth and potential
Pro Skills 17U – Well rounded squad who can really get teams to turn it over
Trae Young Elite – They won Heart of Texas and made it to the championship of Super 64. Skilled!
Lady Drive Randle/Jet 15U – They won Super 64 and have some serious young talent
Lady Drive Nation 17U – This team really gets out in transition! They were down Mississippi State commit Jasmine Shavers and still had a good run.
TXU 16U – This is a well-rounded squad; They can shoot it and do a great job in transition; Bailey Maupin delivers it on a silver platter to anyone who runs the floor … See her!!
CyFair Nike 15U Bush – They won Heart of Texas and made it to the final of S64; Young and talented
DC Queens WTX 17U – They won Heart of Texas and made their name known in S64; They play overall team basketball and have some “sleeper” prospects
Las Vegas Bulldogs – This was a late addition due to their schedule change and they were 2024’s and 2025’s competing in a 16U bracket .. And they play HARD and are extremely well coached .. Oh, and they have a few young ones who can GO! We can’t wait to host them again.
We are so happy with everything that everyone has shared with us on social media both during and after the events. We are here to celebrate you all … keep up the good work! We are very proud of the opportunities received, dreams caught, and college scholarships offered coming off one of the most important four-day periods in
