On Saturday, December 13th, Premier Basketball Report hosted the inaugural USA Prospect Camp in Brisbane, Australia. 59 players took advantage of the opportunity to play in front of the Premier Basketball Report scouting staff and Premier Basketball Media staff in the hopes that their abilities will help them land a scholarship to an American University. Below are some of the standout players from the camp.
Jessie Cooke – 2016 – 5’5: Cooke is a skilled point guard who can score in a variety of ways. As a natural leader, she showed a willingness to be coached and a desire to improve her game throughout the camp. She has a knack of getting her team a basket when they need it.
Isabelle Parker – 2017 – 6’1: Parker is a fundamental wing with a high basketball IQ. She showed her ability to execute the dribble handoff and the ball screen, plus her ability to get to the basket off the dribble and knock down the open jumper.
Rachel Mate – 5’10: Mate is an aggressive wing who is always in attack mode. With her above average handles, she can support the point guard when facing pressure defense. Whether off the dribble or the catch, Mate does an excellent job of getting to the lane.
Georgia Kehoe – 2018 – 6’1: Kehoe is a fundamental forward who can score facing up or with her back to the basket. During the skill work, Kehoe showed glimpses of her potential and ability by picking up new footwork quickly.
Holly Christensen – 5’6: Christensen is a speedy point guard and tough to stop in transition. Her feisty defensive nature makes her a good full court defender, setting the tone of the teams’ defensive scheme. She uses her quick first step to get to the lane in the half court.
Sophie Johnston – 6’4: Johnston is a long arm forward with good hands and a ton of potential. As her offensive game continues to develop, she is a force on the defensive end with her ability to rebound and influence shots.
All of the players from the camp will be added to the PBR Global database and camp film will be added to the PBR video library. Premier Basketball plans to return to Australia in September of 2015 with camps in Brisbane and Melbourne.
