On Friday November 15th, PBR #13 in the 2015 class Kalani Brown signed her Letter of Intent with Head Coach Kim Mulkey and the Baylor Lady Bears. Brown chose the Lady Bears over the University of Tennessee and Texas A&M University.
Brown gives Coach Mulkey and the Lady Bears a powerful post presence to dominate on the boards. She is a traditional back to the basket post with great hands and the ability to finish with either hand. Moreover, she is a dominant left-handed post, who will step out and knock down the elbow jumper. One of her most underrated skills is her ability to pass the ball out of the low or high post.
With Brown’s arrival in the fall of 2015, Coach Mulkey looks to continue Baylor’s strong tradition of outstanding post play and Brown looks to continue her winning ways. During her high school career at Salmen High School, Brown has won three state titles and many accolades, such as District, All-Metro, Sugar Bowl, Class 4, 2014 Class 4 State Championship tournament MVP, Louisiana Miss Basketball, Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year, and Louisiana Hall of Fame Athlete of the Year.
The Brown family has a long tradition of basketball success. Father, PJ Brown, spent 15 years in the NBA and won the 2008 NBA Championship with the Boston Celtics. Mother, DeJuana (Dee) Brown, also attended Salmen High School before playing at Louisiana Tech University.
With Brown’s commitment, the Lady Bears 2015 signing class climbs to four with PBR #58 Alexandria Gulley, PBR #100 Justis Szczepanski-Beavers, and Alyssa Dry.
