The inaugural Let’s Talk Basketball Individual Showcase was held this past weekend on March 21 at Helen Cox High School just outside of New Orleans, Louisiana. Rashad Baker and his staff put over 30 players through drills, one-on-one, three-on-three, and full court games. Premier Basketball Report scouted this event and some of the standout players can be found below.
2016 – 6’1” – Rakell Spencer: Spencer is a competitive, athletic wing who gave 100 percent in every drill and contest during the camp. With her length and physical play, she has the potential to benefit many college teams as a lockdown defender or powerhouse rebounder. Offensively, she showed good elevation on her jump shot and demonstrated the ability to break down her defender off the bounce and catch.
2016 – 6’1” – Savannah Jones: Jones is an imposing wing with a smooth game. Her advantage over other guards is her broad skill set and basketball IQ. Offensively, she can knock down the three, gain elevation on her pull-up shot or take her defender to the basket at the low post.
2016 – 5’8” – Charlesha Dugas: Dugas’ consistency in knocking down jump shots throughout the camp was nothing short of impressive. She is an aggressive defender and is willing to take a charge.
2016 – 5’6” – Kechelle Figuera: Figuera is a strong, offensive-minded guard with an explosive first step. She can break down her defender off the bounce to get to the lane and use a variety of finishing moves to score.
2018 – 6’3” – Dene Mimms: Mimms is a long forward who has grown about two inches since the fall and added a face-up jumper to her game. With improved footwork in the post and a willingness to face up or put the ball on the floor, her offensive game is starting to take shape. Mimms is a very prospective athlete and will continue to improve as her motor develops.
2018 – 6’1” – Cailain Williams: Williams is a skilled forward who can knock down the three pointer or put the ball on the floor to create the shot for herself or her teammate. She also demonstrated good hands and footwork in the low post.
