As a sixth grader with Austin Dream Team, Amber Ramirez attended an adidas Phenom Camp in Dallas, Texas, where I saw her compete for the first time. Her love and passion for the game was so evident that she busted her lip during a scrimmage and wanted to stay in. The same love and passion has driven her to be one of the top recruited players in the 2016 class.
Ramirez has the unique ability to take over a game at any time, which was evident during the 2014 ShesBallin’ Blue Print this past July, when she dropped ten three pointers in one game. Her skill set and ability to break down her defender to create shot opportunities is standout in this loaded 2016 class.
For the past four club seasons, Ramirez suited up for San Antonio Finest and Ray Caldwell. After playing along UCLA freshmen Recee’ Caldwell last summer, Ramirez took the reins of a talented San Antonio Finest team, with the help of 2015 Nebraska Omaha commit Amber Vidal, 2016 Oklahoma commit Chelsea Dungee, and 2017 Kiana Williams. Watching her game mature under the direction of Ray Caldwell has been impressive to witness over the last two seasons.
During an unofficial visit to Oklahoma State University this past weekend, Ramirez gave Head Coach Jim Littell and his coaching staff their first commitment in the 2016 class. When Ramirez steps on campus in the fall of 2016, she will bring a passion and excitement to the Cowgirls program as they look to win the Big 12 conference.
