The inaugural SHE GOT GAME Classic – DALLAS tipped off this past weekend at the Fieldhouse USA – Mansfield. This was a rather historic event as teams were matched up that had never even been in the same event before – all from across the US and even two teams from Australia were represented. Teams from Colorado, Maryland, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, and Virginia competed from Thursday to Sunday.
45 Colleges came to recruit and 55 coaches from those schools came through the doors to watch the teams and talent on display.
This event featured numerous Division One signees, some underclassmen Division 1 commits, top underclassmen in their respective classes, and also some All-American candidates.
The coaches themselves boasted quite the impressive resumes as several of them played at a high level and now are at the helm of their own programs, and a few have even won state titles.
The matchups did not disappoint!
“It’s a very special thing that one of the top teams in the nation comes to Texas to play a top team here. The quality of basketball here has been high for years & it’s unprecedented to get a matchup like this.” — “Basketball Bob” Corwin
EVENT RECAP VIDEO
HIGH SCHOOL COACH STATEMENTS
Bishop McNamara Head Coach, Frank Oliver:
"The She Got Game Dallas event was impressive in every fashion. Well run and organized, it featured some of the top players, coaches and teams in the country all under one roof. The competition was top-notch and we are looking forward to participating for years to come. We were blessed to be a part of the inaugural event and I know that it will quickly grow to become one of the premier events in the nation. If you're a fan of basketball, you don't want to miss out on an event like this one! We had an awesome experience in Texas and I can't wait to participate in next year's event! THANK YOU FOR INVITING US!”
Westlake (TX) Head Coach, Katie Hensle:
“She Got Game tournament gave us a chance to play late playoff level games against teams from out of state. We played more than one future McDonald’s All-American. Our players, freshmen through seniors, were able to be seen by college coaches. We will definitely be back. We learned a lot, the place was jammed with college scouts, and each of the teams we played had national recruits. One team had a front line of 6-7, 6-5, 6-4. This was a great learning experience for us.”
Duncanville Head Coach, LeJeanna Howard:
“The She Got Game event nailed it. Great teams, exciting and welcoming atmosphere, exposure for all the student-athletes and above all else, the match ups that people wanted to see. We are grateful for the opportunity and look forward to doing it again. Thanks Shane and staff.”
Valor Christian Head Coach, Jessica Caldwell:
“Thank you so much again for a wonderful tournament. We are so thankful to have been a part. Great job to you and everyone involved! Top notch!!!!”
COLLEGE COACH STATEMENTS:
“The SHE GOT GAME Classic did not disappoint! I’ve already marked it on my calendar for next year. Great basketball, plenty of talent from all over, and a BIG TIME finale [on Saturday night] between Duncanville and Bishop McNamara. I only see it growing bigger and better in the years to come!”
“The inaugural She Got Game Dallas was time well spent for sure. I was able to watch elite level talent from across the country compete on the same day, in the same gym, in an incredible environment for HS girls basketball. The matchups couldn’t be any better and I’m sure everyone in the gym (players, coaches, and fans) enjoyed their experience. I have no doubt in my mind that this event will be one of the premier basketball tournaments in the very near future.”
“The SHE GOT GAME Classic featured some of the top players and teams from around the country! No teams ducking another...no coaches worried about their power ratings...just ‘bare knuckle basketball!’ This will soon become one of the premiere preseason high school tournaments around!”
