The Premier Basketball League Series will bring both established and new organizations together to compete for the PBLS crown, one of which will be Texas Power Elite, “a new team on the showcase circuit for 2016.” Even though they are a newly formed organization this year, Marty McLendon comments, “our coaching staff has combined 70+ years of coaching experience. Our teams have competed very well at the national level for over 35 years.”
Marty McLendon and John Goddard will be coaching together once again just as they did with Team Texas. During their tenure, they have had vast success helping their players reach the next level such as assistant coach Jerrie Cooper (Texas State/Phoenix Mercury), Teresa McMillan (Texas Tech/Italian Pro League), Rene’ Hanebutt (1st team All-American at Texas Tech), Kim Lummus (2nd team All-American at Texas), Ashley Norris (conference MVP at North Texas), and Emily Atkins (1st team All-American at Lubbock Christian). “Overall hundreds have gone on to play college ball. As well, many are now coaching at the high school and college levels,” added Marty McLendon.
The 2016 Texas Power team will be led by twin towers 2017 6’3” Sydnee Wynn and 2017 6’3” Haley Fieseler, who are sure to draw significant recruiting attention. The backcourt will be lead by 2017 Cheyenne Grubbs and 2017 Hailey Celsur, with 2018 Trysten Mosley and 2018 Summer Grubbs expected to also make a big impact.
“We are excited about this new challenge, [entering into the Premier Basketball League Series], and look forward to supporting this special Premier Basketball event. We appreciate the support Joey Simmons has given us throughout the years,” added Marty McLendon. College coaches will be able to catch Texas Power Elite at the Yellow Rose of Texas Showcase on April 16-17 in Round Rock, Texas, the Heart of Texas National Showcase on April 22-24 in Frisco, Texas, and the PBLS Finale National Championship on July 23-25 in Wichita, Kansas.
